As the books of available songs are being passed around, so that customers can sign up, you are intently thinking of the songs you wish to sing. They could be country, pop, rock, new age or even oldies. No matter the genre, you usually have a wide range to choose from.

Elizabeth Taylor Is Improving, But Still Hospitalized

Poor Elizabeth Taylor. She's been through so much.
The legendary star was admitted to the hospital last week for congestive heart failure, a condition she's been suffering with since November 2004.
Her publicist Jamie Cadwell says her health is improving, however she remains hospitalized.
She's currently under observation at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center "for the time being," but [...]

This is a WAY better idea, dontcha think??

The Poltergeist reboot has thankfully been scrapped.

According to sources, MGM plans to go back to their original idea of making a sequel, making a fourth film that will follow a "broken Stephen Freeling and the spites that tore his family apart."

With the Nightmare on Elm Street reboot failing pretty hardcore, it seems like MGM may have learned their lesson and has decided to return the franchise's characters rather than creating a reboot.

We're digging the idea. What do U think??

The Custody Battle Between Halle Berry Gabriel Aubrey Gets Nasty

In April of last year we learned the surprising news that Halle Berry and her model babydaddy Gabriel Aubry had broken up. I had assumed that the couple remained cordial after their split, especially since they were seen on multiple occasions hanging out together with their daughter Nahla Ariela. It turns out, tho, that the [...]

Guitar Lessons Video to Help You Learn Guitar Fast

The feel or momentum is the rhythm that you create through vocals. Your words hug and join along with the instrumentals you have written. For instance, if the rhythm of the instrument/music is a faster drum sequence, that means your words are going to assert a faster step, allowing your vocals to stretch and sit better on the drum beat. One of the unsurpassed ways to understand your own momentum is to take note of hip hop that you love.

Golden Globes 2011 LIVE BLOG!

The time for the 2011 Golden Globes is upon us. The stars have walked the red carpet, endured countless "Who are you wearing?!" queries, engaged in chit-chat about their picks for who'll win. But now it's time to find out who will actually win, who'll miss their award because they're in the bathroom and who [...]

Golden GlobesThe Golden Globes air tomorrow, Sunday, January 16th at 8 p.m. ET — have you filled out your ballot? For those of you who think the show is all about fashion faux pas or the flubbing of lines, we've compiled a handy primer to savvy you up a bit. Don't forget to log on tomorrow and follow our live commentary during the show!

Who's responsible for Golden Globe nominations and votes?

That'd be the Hollywood Foreign Press Association — a group of 90 international journalists who report on the U.S. film industry. The HFPA represents over 55 countries outside the U.S., and new membership admittance is restricted to five per year (with MPAA accreditation and yearly clip submissions required to maintain status). Every awards show has its own exclusive voting base — therefore, the Globes' viewpoint is unique in that its nominations and winners are chosen by foreign journalists.

For means of comparison, examples of voting pools for a few other key awards shows include: SAG Awards (Screen Actors Guild members only), Independent Spirit Awards (eligible only for productions with budgets of $20 million or less, chosen by previous Spirit Awards nominees, Film Independent and Independent Feature Project Members), The BAFTAs (6,500 members of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts — 5,000 in the U.K. and 1,500 in the U.S.), The Academy Awards (also known as the Oscars — governed by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which boasts over 6,000 film artists and professionals), and various guild awards (such as directors, producers, actors — all voted on by folks enrolled in and exemplifying the specified skill sets pertaining to each guild).

The skinny: A Golden Globe win means you've been honored by critics. A BAFTA win means you've been commended by authorities in the U.K. A SAG win awards folks within the Screen Actors Guild. An Independent Spirit Award highlights how very much one can do with a small budget, as decided upon by experts in the Independent filmmaking world. A Guild win means you've been chosen by a professional with the same expertise as you. An Academy win means you've been recognized by a mixture of various colleagues (actors, directors, editors, writers, producers, etc).

Fun facts from Globes past

The most Globes won by a film: five — shared by "Doctor Zhivago"(1966), "Love Story" (1971), "The Godfather" (1973), "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" (1976) and "A Star is Born" (1977)

Most career Globes wins by a female: seven — Meryl Streep

Most career Globes wins by a male: six —Jack Nicholson

Youngest winner of a Golden Globe: 9-year-old Ricky Schroeder, Best New Star of the Year for "The Champ" (1980)

Oldest winner of a Golden Globe: 80-year-old Jessica Tandy, Best Actress for "Driving Miss Daisy" (1990)

Most individual Globe nominations: 25 for Meryl Streep and 22 for Jack Lemmon

Most nominations in one year: Jamie Foxx in 2005 (for his turns in "Ray," "Collateral" and "Redemption")

The only film to win all five major Globes categories (Best Motion Picture, Actor, Actress, Director, Screenplay): "One Flew Over the Cukoo's Nest" (1976)

How do the Golden Globes differ from the Academy Awards?

The Globes honor achievements in 25 categories — 14 for motion pictures, 11 for television. The Academy Awards (Oscars) honor achievements in 24 categories, all film-centric. The Globes separate movie nominations by Comedy/Musical and Drama, while the Oscars pool all cinematic subject matter together.

Additionally, the ceremonies themselves offer polar opposite atmospheres. The Globes are more relaxed, with attendees grouped at tables where they're served food and champagne (this has made for some very interesting — albeit inebriated — occurrences and acceptance speeches). The Oscars are more formal, seating guests side-by-side in a theater without food or drink service.

Does winning a Golden Globe mean an Oscar is next?

The odds of winning an Oscar are a bit of a science, usually dependent upon the results of many of the season's major awards shows (such as the SAGS, BAFTAs and the various guilds). The Globes have historically been known to predict Academy Award winners, though there have been key upsets in previous years. Check out RopeOfSilicon's handy roundup of the past 25 years of Globes/Oscar winners to get an idea of the odds.

First Listen: Jennifer Lopez, Venus On The Floor

New American Idol judge and former pop superstar Jennifer Lopez has got some new tunes for us to listen to this fine weekend. J. Lo has recorded a cover of the classic song Venus (Shocking Blue, Bananarama) that will be used in a commercial for the Gillette company (who sell the Venus women’s razor). Additionally, [...]

Yesterday was a pretty fantastic day here in SoCal. The 80 degree weather was so freaking amazing that I was inspired to do something that I have never done before. In the almost 5 years that I’ve lived in LA, I’ve never once set foot in Runyon Canyon Park to make the hike up the mountain. Despite the popularity (and relative ease) of the place, I’ve never wanted to make the trek … until yesterday.

I casually mentioned to David that we should go and he jumped on that moment of weakness and insisted that we go. I am so glad that we did … the weather was glorious and the hike was actually very fun. I don’t know that I’ll make a habit of hiking Runyon Canyon but we did have fun yesterday. As a treat, David took me to Amoeba Records in Hollywood, CA afterward so that I could get a few new records. I picked up Quiet Riot, Berlin, Missing Persons, Bon Jovi (Slippery When Wet AND New Jersey) each for about $4. Great score!!

Last night, after a bit of resting, David and I met up with our good friends Darion, David and his boyfriend Ray for a night of dancing at Cherry Pop! I was adamant that I had to dance to Britney Spears‘s Hold It Against Me and thanks to Darion, I got my wish last night:

As the night wore on, the song never came on … so Darion (with all of his charms) went up to the DJ and asked him to play the song for me for my 21st birthday. Voila! Best.Night.Ever.

Tonight, David and I are heading over to our friends Ollie and Caleb’s place to have a record party/Golden Globes/drinkfest. I hope your Sunday is just as rad as mine promises to be :) xo

Handmade Greeting And Graduation Cards

The Juried Art process that we know today was morphed over thousands of years, with its roots deep in the great civilizations of Ancient Greece, Egypt and Rome. The medium du jour was focused on sculpture, architecture and, to a lesser degree, painting. A tincture of time would provide for the development of a sophisticated process that would eventually create an atmosphere for inclusion and exclusion of art works and even the artists that created them. The system would create an aura of reputation that artists would come to depend on to generate sales and justify prices they would garner from sales resulting from the exhibitions.

Watch: A Clip Of Taylor Lautner Kickin Ass In Abduction Hits The Internets

Back in April we got our first look at the first movie trailer for Twilight star Taylor Lautner‘s new feature film Abduction. After missing the show on Broadway, David and I were very excited to learn that the Tony Award-winning play God of Carnage was being performed here in LA with the original Broadway cast — Marcia Gay Harden, Hope Davis, James Gandolfini and Jeff Daniels. We waited for a performance where we could get really good tickets so that is why we waited until the show nearly ends its run to see it. The show ends performances here in LA this weekend … but we managed to get really good seats for our show. In short, we both loved God of Carnage very much … and we were very surprised at how the drama unfolded on stage ;)

I think it’s best that I not spoil the parts of the show that surprised us the most … but I will tell you that the play is very funny and not at all really dramatic. The acting was superb by all of the players and the story is simple on the surface but fairly complex underneath. I knew the basic premise of the play before seeing the show last night but I was NOT at all expecting it to turn out the way it did. There were parts of the show that were so riotously funny, I almost fell out of my chair. There was another part that almost had me running for cover (we were in the front row). God of Carnage is a fantastic play … one I heartily recommend wholeheartedly. If you get the chance to see it with the original Broadway cast, you MUST! I’m sorry I missed seeing it on Broadway but am very happy that I got to experience the same Broadway magic, with the same players, right here at home in LA.

How CDs Are Made

Wind chimes have long been used for a variety of reasons over the years. This ranges from warding off evil spirits to creating positive energy in a particular area. They are also known for the pleasing sounds that they create and were one of the world's first musical instruments. Numerous musicians have utilised them to influence their compositions.

David and I made it home from Las Vegas, NV last evening with enough time to unwind and relax a bit for the rest of the night. Altho our weekend was fun and relaxing, we didn’t want to go all out last night because we have a big night tonight. We are finally seeing the Broadway hit play God of Carnage here in LA and then later on tonight (well, early tomorrow morning to be exact) I am seeing Prince perform a very intimate concert for 100 people at the House of Blues. Oh yes, it’s going to be a very long night indeed.

David and I missed seeing God of Carnage when it ran on Broadway in NYC last year so we were thrilled to learn that the original cast would be doing the play here. We’ve been looking forward to this show for months so … we are very excited.

On Monday, Prince announced that he is doing 3 shows tonight here in LA at an “intimate venue”. Yesterday, the Prince symbol popped up at the Hollywood Palladium suggesting that he would be playing there:

But it was reported today that he is actually playing the House of Blues in West Hollywood, CA. I cannot attend the 7 or 10pm shows … but I’m going to the 11:59pm show (which is actually scheduled to begin at 1am). OY! I will be dead tomorrow but … the capacity for the midnight show is only 100 people so … it’s gonna be worth it.

I’ll have all the deets tomorrow :D

My plans for a night of dancing last night kinda fell apart at the last second but a new plan was formed for a big dance party celebration this weekend … therefore, I wasn’t too broken up about it. Instead, I stayed in and played a bunch of sweet records … natch. My plans for tonight are more exciting, tho, cuz my friend Jen and I will be trekking our way to Pomona, CA tonight to see 30 Seconds to Mars (and Jared Leto) LIVE in concert.

30StM are bringing their Into the Wild World Tour to the LA area tonight and I’m kinda amped to check it out. If you can believe it, I’ve seen 30StM 4 times before … going all the way back to 2000. While I’m not a huge fan of the music, I am a huge fan of seeing Mr. Leto perform on stage. The last time I saw them was in NYC for an MTV pre-VMAs party a few years ago. Tonight’s show will be my first concert of 2011.

The rest of 2011 looks pretty good for shows already. I have tix to see Crystal Castles, Girl Talk and Dashboard Confessional. Earlier today I managed to nab tix to see Janet Jackson and Kylie Minogue in LA, Las Vegas … and Berlin, Germany! It’s gonna be a great year for live music, methinks … now all we need is for our dear Britney Spears to announce a new tour and I can be allllll set. Happy Friday, Happy Weekend!!

Lady Gaga: Taking Determination and Talent to the Limit

Born in 1960, Adam Clayton was the eldest son of Brian and Jo Clayton. Birthplace was Oxfordshire, England, but not for long however. Brian Clayton was a pilot, so the family moved around a bit, before finally settling down in Malahide, Ireland. Adam was now 5 years-old. He spent some time playing with neighborhood kids. Including the Evans' kids, Dave, his brother Dick and sister Gillian. If you don't know already or if you read the other bios, Dave Evans would later become Adam's U2 bandmate, the Edge. The two families parted ways and the inevitable would have to wait until Adam would read Larry's note on Mount Temple's bulletin board.

It’s Martha Stewart’s Birthday Today….Happy 70th!

Martha Stewart’s birthday is today, August 3rd, born 70 years ago in Jersey City, New Jersey. She’s looking pretty good to be entering her 70′s, don’t you think? How does the queen of all things good plan on spending her milestone birthday? Will she be throwing a huge shindig for herself? Nope. A trip around the world, perhaps? Nope, not that either. Instead, she plans to celebrate with her friends and heading outdoors. Specifically she’ll be hiking and sailing. Her Seal Harbor, Maine home no doubt will be busy, but her boat, Skylands II, will be the place to be to partake in food in drink, as she and her friends check out the isles off the Maine coast. A person in the know told the New York Post’s Page Six, “She loves to hike. There will be good food, and they’ll do all the things Martha loves to do in Maine.” As far as hiking, you may see her on the Great Head Trail located in Acadia National Park. The moderately rated trail is one of the media maven’s favorites, stretching 1.3 miles long and will take you about an hour and a half to finish. Kudos to her [...]

We've just learned that the State Bar of Florida has started up an investigation of Casey Anthony's lawyer Jose Baez for "possible ethical violations," such as "hiding information from the court."

The investigation stems from Casey's check fraud conviction in 2010. She was given one year's probation, and was told by the judge that time she spent in jail before her murder trial would NOT count towards her probation time.

Unfortunately, the judge accidentally wrote on Casey's probation order that her jail time WOULD count toward probation time, and Baez didn't make any effort to check in with the judge about the mistake.

Here's what the Chief Judge of the court had to say about it:

"Our system of justice should never be in the position of rewarding someone who willfully hides the ball. "[Baez may have violated] an attorney's duty of candor."

Baez has admitted that he knew about the error, but he says he "felt no obligation" to say anything about it.

Why are we NOT surprised that Casey Anthony's lawyer would do something unethical????

We hope he gets properly punished for his actions!
